WINONA, Minn. – Winona State volleyball hosts their first contests on campus in the 2026 season with matches versus Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State this weekend.
The Warriors (1-5) take on the USF Cougars (4-4) on Friday, September 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the home opener. Then, WSU hosts the 12th ranked Mustangs (6-1) on Saturday, September 12th at 4:00 p.m.
Fans attending the contest will need to purchase tickets online prior to arriving at the venue. There will be

Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors will look to get on track as they open NSIC play at home after competing in Michigan and California the first two weeks of the season.
- Abby Ongna leads the WSU offense with 80 points, good for 10th in the NSIC.
- Haile Peters has dished out 6.45 assists/set to lead the Warriors.
- Ellie Bruns has recorded eight service aces this season.
- Lily Shields commands the back row, tallying 58 digs and averaging 2.64 digs per set.
- After six nonconference matches to start the season, the Warriors will compete in 20 consecutive NSIC contests.
Sioux Falls Notes:
- The Cougars are 4-4 on the season after traveling to California and then playing at home in the USF Volleyball Classic.
- Abby Haus leads Sioux Falls with 86 kills.
- Ella Walker is right behind with 81 kills at an impressive .447 hitting percentage.
- Hollie Peterson and Gretchen Volk run the USF offense, notching 175 and 135 assists, respectively.
- Maci Lerseth has collected 118 digs on the season, averaging 3.69 digs/set.
- Sioux Falls will travel to Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, September 12th.
No. 12 Southwest Minnesota State Notes:
- The Mustangs are currently ranked No. 12 in the AVCA DII Coaches Poll after jumping out to a 6-1 start to open the season.
- SMSU has rattled off three consecutive sweeps, all coming at the Missouri Western State Classic last week.
- Leah Jones leads SMSU with 3.18 kills/set and 70 total kills.
- Tatem Schmidt and Syndey Thein make up the setter tandem the constructs 13.95 set assists per set.
- Ashlynn Schroeder averages 4.32 digs/set with a .972 receiving percentage on 107 attempts.
- SMSU battles Concordia-St. Paul in a top-10 matchup on Friday night before competing against WSU.
