Bartz Wins Two Events To Lead WSU At Warren Bowlus Open

MENOMONIE, Wis. – Sophomore Andrea Bartz came away with two first place finishes to pace the Warriors at the Warren Bowlus Open at the UW-Stout campus in Menomonie.
 
Bartz came away with a first place finish in the triple jump, scoring a jump of 37' 5 3/4" (11.42-meters) and breaking into fourth in the WSU record book. Her teammates Angie Miller and Taylor Weis finished second and third in the event as well. Miller scored a 36' 2 1/4" (11.03-meters) and Weis scored 35' 7 1/4" (10.85-meters).
 
Bartz also won the long jump with a 17' 1 1/4" (5.21-meters) score with teammates Haley Reinke and Miller finishing second and third. Reinke placed with a distance of 16' 5" (5.00-meters) and Miller recorded a 16' 3 3/4" (4.97-meters) leap.
 
The Warriors also got a pair of provisional qualifiers out of the weight throw and shot put.

Freshman Kaitlyn Long won the weight throw with a 59' 2" (18.04-meters) toss, putting her in seventh in the WSU record book and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship. Her teammate, Ashley Thooft finished third in the event with a 51' 10" (15.80-meters) throw.
 
Delaney Miller was the other provisional qualifier for the Warriors as her throw of 43' 8" (13.31-meters) in the shot put placed her second in the event and 10th in the WSU record book.
 
Brittany Dulak found her way into the WSU record book with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Dulak's time of 9.39 put her in sixth in the WSU record book for that event.
 
Amanda Kaiser made her mark in the WSU record book as well with a third-place finish in the one-mile run. Her time of 5:18.61 put her in eighth in the WSU record book.
 
The Warriors as a team had a strong showing in the 800-meter run. McKenzie Carper won the event with a time of 2:24.42, Leah Karsten came in second with a time of 2:25.61 and WSU placed seven runners in the top eight in the event.
 
Madeline Tompach was solid in the 600-meter run, finishing in second with a time of 1:41.83.
 
Ali Skluzacek came away with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:00.54.
 
Madison Schroeder also came away with a top three finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:42.23, placing third in the event.
 
Winona State will have a few weeks off, as their next meet will be at the University of St. Thomas at The Showcase in St. Paul on Feb. 13.
