SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior Kati Baker scored early in the second half to lift the Winona State soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Sioux Falls Saturday.
Baker found the back of the net for the fourth time this season in the 53rd minute when Nicole Sames found her inside in the box for the assist and the 1-0 lead.
Despite the lone goal, the Warriors controlled most of the game, leading the Cougars in shots by a 24-8 margin and put 11 shots on goal compared to USF's five.
Mehan Bolton led the Warriors with six shots, four of which were on goal. Baker had four shots, two of which were on goal, and Hannah Burt put one of her for shots on goal. Kelsey Foss, Addie Royer and Abby Bohanski each had two shots.
Rachel Oleson earned her seventh shutout of the season, successfully stopping all five shots she faced.
Winona State (10-3, 7-3) heads to Marshall, Minn. Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against Southwest Minnesota State.
