MINOT, N.D. – The Winona State soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Minot State Saturday afternoon in Minot, N.D.
WSU and the Beavers were scoreless until Minot State's Ninfa Ramirez broke the scoreless tie with 52 seconds left in the first half to give her team a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Beavers added three second half goals, the first coming from Chloe Melton in the 52nd minute. Ramirez then recorded her second of the game in the 78th minute to make it a 3-0 game before Rimke Eurlings scored a goal in the 86th minute for the 4-0 victory.
WSU was held to just five shots in the game and were left without a shot on goal. The Beavers managed 14 shots while nine landed on goal.
Kenzie Rose led WSU with two shots, while Kelsey Foss, Nicole Sames and Meg Riebau each had one.
The result marks the first time the Warriors have surrendered four goals in a game since the 2012 season opener, a 4-2 loss at Central Missouri.
Winona State (6-3, 3-3 NSIC) heads to Bismarck, N.D. Sunday for a noon matchup against the University of Mary.
