Bohanski Scores Twice To Lift WSU To 2-1 OT Win Over Concordia

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Freshman Abby Bohanski scored twice – including the overtime game winner – to propel the Winona State soccer team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Concordia-St. Paul Sunday in the regular season finale at Sea Foam Stadium.

Despite peppering Golden Bear goalkeeper Emma Gartner with a season-high 41 shots – including 20 in the second half – the Warriors were unable to find the back of the net until the 80th minute, when Bohanski rolled a soft shot past Gartner for the late 1-0 lead.

Concordia had just four shots in the match, but they made one count, as Chelsie Lindsay struck a ball from 20 yards out past Rachel Oleson for the equalizer in the 88th minute to send the game to overtime.

But the Warriors added seven more shots in less than eight minutes of the extra period, with Bohanski scoring again – her 10th of the season – on an assist from Nicole Sames for the victory.

The victory proved to be an important one, as a St. Cloud State win Sunday required WSU to do the same to remain in the top four spots in the NSIC standings and host a first round tournament game Wednesday.

Bohanski led the way with six shots on goal on seven total shots, Meg Riebau had a game-high eight shots with four on goal and Mehan Bolton had six shots with three on goal. Freshman Chase Rehm also had several solid chances, putting all four of her shots on goal.

Winona State earns the No. 4 seed in the NSIC Tournament and will host No. 5 St. Cloud State at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winona.
