MANKATO, Minn. – The Winona State soccer team fell to Augustana 1-0 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Championship in Mankato.
After a scoreless first half, Augustana scored what would turn out to be the championship-winning goal in the 53rd minute with a goal from Samantha Tymkowicz.
The Warriors and Vikings played a mostly even match, with each team posting 11 shots and WSU controlling a slim 4-3 edge in shots on goal. WSU also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Chase Rehm and Abby Bohanski each had two shots, while Rehm, Bohanski, Nicole Sames and Hayley Bach recorded a shot on goal.
Three Warriors were named to the All-Tournament team, with Kati Baker, Bohanski and Meg Riebau earning the accolades.
Winona State (13-5-3) will wait to find out its NCAA Tournament fate when the field is announced Monday via a webcast selection show on NCAA.com at 5:30 p.m. The regional tournament will begin November 13 or 14 on regional campuses.
