WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State tennis team earned a weekend split, beating Southwest Minnesota State 7-2 Saturday evening before falling to Minnesota State 7-2 Sunday morning at Winona Tennis Center.

Against the Mustangs on Saturday, the Warriors took five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Aimee Basinski and Brianna Havelka earned an 8-5 victory, while the No. 2 doubles team of Justine Daane and Katie Scruggs earned a commanding 8-1 win.

The top of the singles lineup was strong, as Basinksi claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Havelka earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2. Daane picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 and Scruggs earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4. Lauren Willkom picked up the fifth singles win for the Warriors, claiming a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Basinski and Havelka earned their second doubles win of the weekend Sunday, topping Minnesota State 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Daane claimed the lone singles win for the Warriors against Minnesota State, earning a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 victory.
