WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State tennis team dropped their first home meet in March 8-1 to Upper Iowa Saturday at the Winona Tennis Center.
Sophomore Katie Scruggs was the lone victor for the Warriors, picking up a win in dramatic fashion over Upper Iowa's Anna Okolot. After losing the first set 6-0, she stayed alive and won the second set 7-5.
After an already drawn out second set, the third set tiebreaker would be another back-and-forth battle that Scruggs eventually pulled out 11-9.
Winona State (6-6) is back at home next weekend for a pair of matchups against Sioux Falls and Augustana on Friday and Saturday in Winona.
