WINONA, Minn. – Junior Brianna Havelka led the Winona State tennis team with victories in both doubles and singles play, but the Warriors fell to Sioux Falls 6-3 Friday night at the Winona Tennis Center.
Havelka and Justine Daane opened the night with an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles. WSU also fought hard at No. 2 doubles, but the tandem of Katie Scruggs and Leah Dahl fell 8-6.
Havelka also earned a convincing victory at the top of the singles lineup, defeating the Cougars' Alison Kauss 6-1, 6-2.
Senior Leah Dahl also was a bright spot for WSU, putting together an impressive 6-1 first-set victory before holding on for a 7-6 victory in the second set after a dominating 7-0 win in the tiebreak.
Winona State (6-7) is back in action Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup against NSIC co-leader Augustana in Winona.
