ALLENDALE, Mich. – Senior Jordan Skelly finished her Winona State career by breaking the school's 3,000-meter steeplechase record yet again en route to a ninth-place finish in the finals Friday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Allendale, Michigan.
After qualifying for the finals in Thursday night's prelims, Skelly raced the best steeplechase event of her career in the final race of her WSU career, posting a school-record time of 10:33.21, nearly two seconds quicker than her previous best mark of 10:35.12 set two weeks ago at the NSIC Outdoor Championships.
Skelly's strong ninth-place finish in the finals topped her 15th-place seed going into the championships.
The Warriors wrap up their NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance Saturday when Alissa Rausch – who won the discus national championship Friday – competes in the shot put at 10:15 a.m. (CST).
