Hoffman Takes Top Spot To Lead Women's Golf At Mustang Invite

MARSHALL, Minn. – Senior Katya Hoffman claimed medalist honors and the Winona State women's golf team took home a tie for fourth place at the 11-team Mustang Invite hosted by Southwest Minnesota State at Marshall Golf Club.

Hoffman used consecutive rounds of 76 to top the leaderboard and finish with a two-round total of an eight-over 152 for the tournament. Her final round 76 was two strokes better than the next best golfer.

The Warriors finished as a team in a tie for fourth with host SMSU with a two-round total of 657 (+81). Minnesota State won the invite with a score of 650 (+74), followed by Upper Iowa (651) and St. Cloud State (654).

Junior Marissa Geyer followed up a first round 80 with a final round 85 to finish in a tie for 14th, while freshman Jessica Blanchard improved her first round 87 with a final round 82 to finish in a tie for 26th.

Madelyn Miller finished 39th for the Warriors, and Courtney Bergum finished in a tie for 40th.

Winona State concludes the fall portion of its season with the first two rounds of the NSIC Championship on Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, in Brainerd, Minn.
