WINONA, Minn. – Winona State head football coach Tom Sawyer announced today its 39-player recruiting class that signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and playing careers at WSU.

The Warriors' 39 high school student-athletes hail from five different states, including Wisconsin (17), Illinois (10), Minnesota (9), Iowa (1), Colorado (1) and Indiana (1).

The class includes 10 defensive backs, seven offensive linemen, six wide receivers, five linebackers, three defensive linemen, three quarterbacks, three running backs, a kicker and a versatile tight end/linebacker.

"We're really excited about this group of Warriors," said head coach Tom Sawyer. "Our coaching staff did a great job identifying talented and oustanding young men that fit our program athletically and academically."

These signees are contingent upon students completing admission process and enrollment to Winona State University

The Warriors open spring ball Friday, March 25 and will have 15 practices leading up to its annual Spring game on April 23 at 4 p.m.  The Warriors kick off the 2016 season at home against Minnesota Crookston on Thursday, September 1 under the lights of Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
