Hoffman Tops Field By Six Strokes At Fort Hays Spring Thaw

MESA, Ariz. – Senior Katya Hoffman pulled away from the field to earn medalist honors at the Fort Hays State Spring Thaw Invite by six strokes after the final round Tuesday at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona.

Hoffman equaled her terrific opening round 74 with another 74 in the final round to finish with a 148 (+4) to beat out four golfers for second with a 154 (+10) by six shots.

As a team the Warriors finished third out of nine teams, improving on an opening round 324 with a final round 319 to finish with a 643 (+67), just four shots back of second place UC-Colorado Springs.

Marissa Geyer finished tied for 11th, adding a final round 81 to an opening round 80 to finish +17. Courtney Bergum finished tied for 19th, improving on an opening round 85 with a final round 81 to finish +22, while Jessica Blanchard finished with a final round 83 to finish tied for 44th.

The Warriors compete next at the Nebraska-Kearney Spring Tournament on March 25-26 at Awarii Dunes in Axtell, Nebraska.
