WINONA, Minn. – Winona State improved to 3-0 with a 5-4 victory over Minnesota State on Friday night. The Warriors got singles' wins from
Rachel Gantz,
Kendra Kappes and
Tayla Card to hold off the Mavericks.
The double portion of the match went in favor of the Warriors, who won two of three.
Mia Davis and
Justine Daane won 8-5 in the number one spot. Gantz and
Kaisey Skibba combined to win an exciting 9-7 match. The extra point the Warriors won from doubles would prove to be the difference.
Grantz won her singles match 6-4, 6-2. Kappes won 6-2, 6-1 and Card picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win.
The Warriors are back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Southwest Minnesota State.
