WINONA, Minn. – Winona State (10-5, 7-2 NSIC) rebounded nicely on Sunday, beating Sioux Falls 9-0. The Warriors only lost four games in the doubles portion of the match. They would win all six singles matches, four of them in straight sets.
Tayla Card and
Katie Scruggs won 8-0 in doubles to kick start the Warriors.
Rachel Gantz and
Kendra Kappes won 8-1 and
Justine Daane and
Kaisey Skibba won 8-3.
In singles; Skibba, Daane, Gantz and Scruggs all won in straight sets. Gantz lost just four games, winning 6-3, 6-1. Daane also played a quick match, winning 6-1, 6-4. Skibba won 6-3, 6-4 and Scruggs won 6-4, 6-4.
Kappes improved to 7-0 in NSIC play; winning 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3). Card also won in the tiebreaker, coming back after losing set one 2-6 to win set two 6-1 and then won 10-4 in the tiebreaker.
Next weekend the Warriors play Minnesota State, Moorhead and the University of Mary in Fargo, N.D. to wrap up NSIC play.
