WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University kept its unblemished conference record intact on Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Upper Iowa University at the Winona Tennis Center.
The Warriors improve to 10-1 (7-0 NISC) with the triumph. Tayla Card and Kali Hackmann remained unbeaten in singles action and as a duo in doubles.
Card was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at singles No. 5 and Hackmann earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over her Peacock opponent at singles No. 4.
Rachel Gantz recorded a hard-fought 6-1, 6-7 (9), 10-8 win at singles No. 2 while Kendra Kappes secured a 6-2, 6-1 win at singles No. 3.
The team of Kaisey Skibba and Justine Daane won the first of three straight doubles matches at No. 1. Kappes and Gantz scored a perfect 8-0 win at doubles No. 2 before Upper Iowa forfeited at No. 3.
The Warriors continue NSIC play next weekend with a pair of road matches. Winona State travels to Sioux Falls on Saturday night and concludes the road trip with a Sunday morning match at Augstana University.
