WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University head tennis coach Heather Reilly has announced the addition of three incoming freshman for the 2019-20 season. Audrey Delich, Brooke Jorgensen and Rachel Kelly will each join the Warriors next Fall.
Audrey Delich
From Eveleth, Minnesota, Delich competed at Singles No. 1 at Eveleth-Gilbert Senior High where her team won the conference all four years while earning a second-place state finish in 2017 and a fourth-place finish in 2018. Delich is an honor roll student who plans to study criminal justice at Winona State.
"I'm very excited to be a part of the tennis program's ongoing success, and be at Winona State's gorgeous campus for the next four years," she said.
Brooke Jorgensen
A product of Pella, Iowa, Jorgensen attended Pella Community High School. At Doubles No. 1, she placed sixth at state as a freshman, and third as a sophomore and junior in singles competition. The team has won three consecutive conference championships heading toward the conclusion of her senior season. Jorgensen is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and plans to study biology at WSU.
"I chose Winona State because of its incredible academic reputation and I loved meeting members of the current tennis team. The campus is beautiful, and I'm excited to be a part of the Warrior tennis family," she commented.
Rachel Kelly
A six-year varsity letter winner at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Kelly was the 2018 Section 6AA doubles champion and the 2018 class AA Minnesota state doubles champion. The team captain has earned All-Conference honors four time in her prep career. An honor roll student off the court, Kelly was also a two-year letter winner on the varsity golf team. She plans to study nursing at Winona State beginning next fall.
"The location of the university and the size of the campus were both reasons I chose Winona State. I really enjoyed meeting the tennis coach and members of the team when I visited and was impressed by their work ethic and goals on and off the court," she said upon signing.
