Warrior Soccer Signs Five for Fall

Winona, Minn. -  Winona State head women's soccer coach Matt Kellogg announced the addition of five signees to the Warrior program on Wednesday.  The five incoming standouts for WSU are Chloe Swanson, Abby Williams, Aly Jumper, Summer Malinauskas and Emma Chudik.

Chloe Swanson, comes to Winona State from Sartell High School, where she served as the Sabres starting goalkeeper. Last season, Swanson earned First-Team All-State honors, recording eight shutouts and a 0.78 goals against average. She was named to the St. Cloud All-Metro girl's soccer team, as well as the Central Lakes All-Conference squad twice in her high school career.  This past fall, Swanson and Sartell downed Bemidji on penalty kicks to conclude their 2020 season as MSHSL Section 8A champions.

Coach Kellogg on Chloe Swanson: "Chloe is a fearless goalie and does a great job going into crowds.  She is also a great basketball player so she has soft hands and holds onto shots very well.  Chloe is also very comfortable using her feet so we are going to be able to use her to keep possession and build out of our own end with.  She will really help strengthen our GK position. "

Abby Williams, captained the Prior Lake High School in 2020, patrolling the central midfield for the Lakers. Williams set the tempo for the PLHS offense, twice earning team MVP honors. She also was a two-time All-Conference selection in the highly competitive South Suburban Conference for head coach Blair Rummel. Williams also competed for the Minnesota Eclipse club soccer program.

Coach Kellogg on Abby Williams: "Abby is a great playmaker in the midfield.  She has great vision and is constantly moving to try and get the ball and will create a lot of scoring chances for us.  She will be a great addition in our midfield."

Aly Jumper, a goalkeeper from Ankeny, Iowa, led her Sporting Iowa SC club team to the Iowa State Cup championship in 2017 and 2019. In high school soccer at Ankeny Centennial, Jumper set a ACHS season shut-out record with nine clean sheets, recording a goals against average of 0.33. In addition, she earned Academic All-Conference three times; her 2018 ACHS squad was the 3A Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) champion.

Coach Kellogg on Aly Jumper: "Aly is a goalie with great athleticism and shot-stopping ability.  She is very quick and can get to a lot of shots.  Aly also has a very aggressive mindset in goal and is exactly what we want from that position.  She will make an immediate impact in our goal keeping corps. "

Summer Malinauskas, a standout central defender from Muskego, Wisconsin, led her MHS team to the 2019 WIAA state championship.  Playing her club soccer for the Croatian Eagles SC, Malinauskas earned a U18 Wisconsin State Cup championship as well.

Coach Kellogg on Summer Malinauskas: "Summer is a defender with great tactical and positional awareness.  It's not very often that you will find Summer in the wrong position, which makes her a very difficult player for the other teams to beat.  Summer will help strengthen our backline."

Emma Chudik, from Crystal Lake, Illinois, lined up in the midfield for both Crystal Lake South High School and the Crystal Lake Force club program.  In the highly competitive Fox Valley Conference, Chudik was tabbed All-Conference as junior.

Coach Kellogg on Emma Chudik: " Emma is a technically gifted player and has the work rate to match.  She will be a threat going forward from the midfield and into the attack.  Emma will help to strengthen our midfield. "

On the Warrior 2021 recruiting class as a whole, Kellogg noted, "All five additions to our 2021 class are great players, no doubt about that.  However, more important to our program is that they are all fantastic people and will do whatever they can to help make the program better.  They have a great team first mentality and that will help make everyone in our program better.  We are really excited to get them on campus next fall and get to work with them."
