Lindsay Cunningham earns All-America honors

Winona, Minn. – After an outstanding season in which Lindsay Cunningham cruised to first place in almost every race, the Winona State University women's cross country standout has one more medal to add to her collection: All-American.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) recently released their NCAA Division II All-America awards and Cunningham was among those honored, coming on the heels of a strong outing at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, where competed against the best collegiate distance runners in the country.

Cunningham - the women's individual champion in both the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and the NCAA Central Region Championships - earned a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Saint Leo, Florida last week, capping off an outstanding season for the Warriors.

In the three Winona State women's cross country program regular season meets, Cunningham claimed first place and individual medalist honors. Included in that span was an impressive race at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 24, hosted by the University of Minnesota, which was comprised of over 25 teams and 325 individual participants.

When postseason meets came up on the calendar, Cunningham turned it up a notch, running to a NSIC Championship in Wayne, Nebraska on Oct. 23 - posting a 21:21.42 time – and then earning a trip to Florida by winning the 2021 NCAA Division II Central Region championship on Nov. 6 in Joplin, Mo. Her medalist time of 20:22.52 also was key in helping Winona State earn a fourth-place finish overall as a team at the NCAA Regional meet.

The sophomore from Wisconsin Dells, Wis. will also compete this winter and spring as a member of the Winona State University track and field program.
