WINONA, Minn. - Winona State football standout Jake Balliu has been tabbed as a D2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-America honoree, following a fantastic final season for the Warriors. 

Balliu was named to the D2CCA Second Team as a return specialist, adding to a long list of accolades already earned this year. The Lake Villa, Ill. product finished in the top 50 in NCAA Division II football ranks in all-purpose yards per game (115.0) and was one of a handful of college football returners who returned both a punt and a kickoff for touchdown in 2021.   Balliu was first in the NSIC in punt return yards (305) and third in NSIC in kick return average (26.1) as a return specialist.

Balliu was one of just three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) student-athlete named on either the D2CCA first or second teams.  Balliu becomes the seventh Warrior all-time to earn the D2CCA All-America award.  Most recently, Rayon Simmons was named to the D2CCA Honorable Mention team in 2012. Kevin Curtin stands as the only two-time D2CCA honoree, having been named in 2000 and 2002.
