Box Score Winona, Minn. - The Winona State University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 NSIC win over Upper Iowa on Saturday, improving their record to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in NSIC play.
The Warriors dominated the Peacocks, sweeping all available double and singles points on the day.
Beth Murman and
Audrey Delich won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while
Rachel Kelly and
Rina Niehoff combined for a 6-3 victory.
Sara Anderson and
Faith Young triumphed 6-1 at No 3.
In singles play, No. 1
Beth Murman won 7-5, 6-2 and
Rachel Kelly claimed the No. 2 singles point, 6-7, 6-3, 10-7 in the closest match of the evening. No. 3 singles was won by Niehoff, 6-3. 6-3, and No. 4 singles went the way of the Warriors, as
Audrey Delich cruised 6-1, 6-3. Winona State won No. 5 and No. 6 singles by identical 6-1, 6-0 scorlines, with
Brooke Jorgensen and
Sara Anderson claiming wins.
Winona State returns to action tomorrow, when they host the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, starting at 4:30pm at the Winona Tennis Center.
