Warrior tennis nets second straight sweep

Winona State moves to 6-3 on the season

Box Score Winona, Minn. - The Winona State University women's tennis team made quick work of the University of Wisconsin - River Falls on Sunday night, sweeping all matches en route to a 7-0 victory. 

With the whitewash win, Winona State completes a 2-0 weekend, having defeated NSIC foe Upper Iowa University 7-0 yesterday.  The Warriors now stand at 6-3 overall and 5-2 in NSIC play. 

Each Warrior doubles team won by 6-0 scorelines; Beth Murman and Audrey Delich (No. 1 doubles), Rachel Kelly and Rina Niehoff (No. 2  doubles) as well as Sara Anderson and Faith Young (No. 3 doubles) combined to spot WSU a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

For Winona State, the No. 1 and No. 3 singles wins were both 6-0, 6-2 matches with Murman winning at No. 1 and Neihoff at No. 3.  In the No. 2 and No. 4 slots, Rachel Kelly and Audrey Delich both won 6-1, 6-0.  Faith Young also claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5, while Brooke Halloway was victorious at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1.  

Winona State is next in action on Friday when they return to NSIC play, hosting the Mavericks of Minnesota State - Mankato.  Start time for the match at the Winona Tennis Center is 6pm.
