Warrior 4X400 relay team earns third-place finish at NCAA Division II Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Running one of the fastest 4X400 relay times in school history, Winona State University earned a third-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State University.

Kalley Harris, Kendall Zeman, Shereen Vallabouy and Brooklyn Schyvinck combined to turn in a season best time of 3:42.09, which is also the second fastest 4X400 time ever in school history. The current Warrior record of 3:41.97 was earned in 2019.

The women's 4X400 relay finals was the last event of the 2021 NCAA Division II Championships, and the Warriors saved their best for last as well.

After qualifying yesterday with a time of 3:45.24, WSU found another gear in the finals and outpaced fourth-place Grand Valley State by almost two full seconds.  Only two teams - Fresno Pacific and Saginaw Valley State - turned in better marks as SVSU won the event with a time of 3:39.46, while Fresno Pacific was second with a 3:41.61 mark.

For Winona State, the impressive finish in the 4X400 relay concludes the 2021 NCAA Division II Track & Field season.  On Thursday, the Warrior 4X100 relay team of Michaela Pryor, Brooklyn Schyvinck, Maddy Pietz and Kaylee Olson finished 10th in their heat of the first round of the competition.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Kalley Harris ran a first round time of 1:01.56, qualifying her for the finals.  In the 400 meter finals, Harris improved on her mark, running a 1:00.21, which stands as the second-fastest time ever recorded in Winona State record books. Only one Warrior, Deidra Faber, has run faster in the 400 meter hurdles, earning a .59.98 time in 2005.
