Warrior Gameday : Baseball

OZARK, Mo. - The Winona State University baseball team returns to the field today for a single, nine inning game against Drury University at U.S. Baseball Park. First pitch is set for noon, CST.

The Warriors (0-4, 0-0 NSIC) will see the Panthers (5-0, 0-0 GLVC) in their second of a three-game series, as WSU looks to break into the win column. Yesterday, Drury beat Winona State, 17-2.

On Friday, Warrior bats were slow to warm, with the exception of Miller Wallace, who went 3-for-4 including a home run. Against the Panthers, leadoff hitter Nick Herbst was 1-for-3 and showed patience at the plate, drawing to walks. Prior to taking on Drury this weekend, Cooper Kapanke has a strong showing last week, hitting three home runs at Missouri Southern State, one of which was a grand slam.

U.S. Baseball Park is the home for Drury University baseball and located in Ozark, Missouri.  U.S. Baseball Park was originally built in 1999 and home to an independent minor league baseball team. It was vacant for nearly 10 years before it went through a $2 million renovation in 2015-16 that included the installation of an AstroTurf surface and a 37 foot by 48 foot LED videoboard in right field.

Drury is unbeaten in their 2022 season so far, having swept back-to-back double headers against Fort Hays State last weekend along with their win over the Warriors yesterday. The Panthers notched wins of 10-4 and 13-0 scorelines against FHSU on Friday, Feb. 11 and beat the Tigers 11-3 and 19-7 on Sunday, Feb. 13.
