KENOSHA, Wis. - The Winona State University soccer team, off ot their best start since 2016, continues the Warrior road show this weekend, taking on the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Sunday, Sept. 4 at noon.
Winona State has scored seven goals combined in their first two games against NCAA Division II opposition and will look to extend their winning streak to three games in the early part of hte 2022 campaign.
In Wisconsin, the Winona State attack will likely be led by
Ashley Hewitt, the reigning NSIC Soccer Player of the Week. Hewitt, a senior forward from Cottage Grove, Minn., notched a pair of goals, including the game-winner, against East Central University on Sunday, Aug. 28 in Kearney, Neb.
Sunday's contest marks the third-consecutive meeting between the schools; the first two Ranger-Warrior matchups went the way of Wisconsin Parkside, by 3-1 (2020) and 2-1 scorelines (2019). Kickoff is set for noon in Kenosha, Wis.

WINONA STATE STORYLINES
- WSU scored seven goals in their opening weekend of action, notching a 3-0 shutout over Nebraska Kearney and a 4-2 win over East Central.
- The seven goals in the opening weekend marks the most ever in the first two games of a season since at least 2008.
- The 3-0 shutout over the Lopers is the first opening-day shutout since 2018, when WSU beat Upper Iowa, 2-0 on the road in Fayette, Iowa.
- Chloe Swanson has played the full 90 minutes in both Warrior wins this season.
- Winona State held NCAA Division I Southern Indiana to one goal in a 1-0 exhibition loss to open the season.
- In addition to Hewitt's two goals, Abigail Williams (2), Riley Harmon (1), Reanne Weil and Jaida Wiege (1) all have found the back of the net this year.
- Winona State is three games into a seven-match road swing to open 2022.
- WSU added assistant coaches Jill Leibforth and Joe Davis this past summer.
Wisconsin Parkside STORYLINES
- Wisconsin Parkside was ranked seventh in the GLIAC Preseason Poll.
- UWP returns the bulk of their starting lineup from 2021, including six seniors.
- The Rangers enter this weekend with a 1-1 record and will take on Concordia St. Paul on Friday, prior to facing the Warriors on Sunday.
- Alexis Baker is among the top Rangers returning, leading UWP in points (14) and goals (7), earning All-GLIAC honors in the process.
- Brittany Kikolic enters her seventh season as head coach at UWP.
WARRIOR NOTABLES:
- Winona State has scored first in both of their first two contests this season.
- Against East Central University, WSU and ECU were even in saves, six apiece, and corner kicks, four apiece.
