Warrior Game Day: Football

WINONA, Minn. - For the first  time this season, fans of the Winona State University football team will be watching their Warriors compete on back-to-back Saturdays, as WSU is set to host Wayne State College in a 1pm NSIC South Division affair on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Winona State is coming off an impressive 40-7 win over Minnesota State, Moorhead last Saturday in a game played at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium, a contest in which Warrior history was made.  Jacob Scott, the WSU sophomore placekicker, booted four field goals of over 40 yards in the game - including a pair of 48 yard efforts - and Winona State rode a balanced offensive and defensive performance to their third win of the year and their fifth-straight home win, dating back to last season.

Wayne State College will be the first NSIC South Division foe for Winona State in 2022 as all teams across the NSIC open up Divisional play this week. The Wildcats are 4-0 on the season and hold the edge over the Warriors in terms of recent history, as WSC dealt WSU a 38-21 setback in 2021 on the road in Wayne, Neb.  This year, the Wildcats have won big, as evidenced by a 49-10 win at Minot State in week three, and scratched out the defensive slugfest, beating Northern State at home 13-6 in week two.
