MINNEAPOLIS - The Winona State University gymnastics team finished third at the Best of Minnesota meet, hosted by the University of Minnesota, competing in front of nearly 3,000 fans on Friday, January 6.
Winona State concluded the event with a 180.900 team score overall in the season kick-off competition featuring the four women's gymnastics programs in Minnesota. The annual meet hosted by NCAA Division I U of M also features WIAC members Winona State, Hamline University and Gustavus Adolphus College.
For WSU and second-year head coach Stephanie Geislinger,
Izzy Kropiwiec finished the night with two team-best scores; a 9.757 on the vault and a 9.525 on the floor exercise. Additionally,
Kayla Miller led WSU with a 9.100 on the bars while
Camdyn McSweeney's 9.025 was the top Warrior on the beam.
Host University of Minnesota took first with a team score of 196.075, Gustavus Adolphus was second at 181.075. Hamline University finished fourth at 179.675.
WSU is next in action at Hamline University on Sunday, January 8 at 3pm, where they will face the host Pipers and Simpson College.
