Winona State soccer earns 0-0 draw at Minot State

MINOT, N.D. - The Winona State University soccer team battled Minot State to a 0-0 tie on the road in the front half of a NSIC weekend in North Dakota, as goalkeeper Aly Jumper earned a shutout against the Beavers on Friday, Oct. 20. 

Despite being outshot 13-6, Winona State was able to keep MSU at bay for 90 minutes to claim a NSIC point on the road in the final road trip of the 2023 regular season.

How it Happened

Winona State started strong in the opening half against Minot State, earning a corner kick in opening minute. 

Minot State claimed the first two shots of the contest, with a pair of efforts from Rebecca Storr saved and held by WSU goalkeeper Alyson Jumper

WSU responded to Storr's shots with a strike from Johanna Shubert in the 12th minute.

Winona State would earn two more corner kicks around the 35 minute mark and Sarah Strating would test MSU's Elliot with a shot on goal five minutes later.

Despite Starting's effort, the two team would head into halftime knotted at nil-nil.

Winona State Alyson Jumper had to be on point to start the final 45, as Minot State tallied four shots, including two on goal, in the opening 15 minutes. 

In the 77th minute. WSU center back Quinn Williams hit the crossbar with an effort off a Warrior kick, claiming the best chance for the visitors in the contest. 

Following Williams' opportunity, the two team battled in midfield for the remainder of the 90 minutes, with a pair of Beaver shots from distance off target in the final ten minutes. 

For Winona State, Alyson Jumper would finish with six saves in the contest to earn the shutout.
