How It Happened
Set one was the closest of the three frames, with WSU needing to recover from a 3-0 start from the home side. The two team would trade points and rallies all the way to a 22-22 deadlock in front of a strong Golden Eagle crowd. WSU would pull away late with
Sidney Paulson racking up two kills to close out the set for the Warriors at 25-22.
In the second set, Winona State established a 16-11 lead midway through the frame, setting up a strong finish for the visitors.
Gianna Vollrath and
Kenna Kornely would notch kills to help WSU close out a 25-17 win over UMC in set two.
The third frame saw the Warriors pull away with a four-point run early on, taking leads of 6-2 and 16-10 as the set unfolded. A seven-point run highlighed by a
Lydia Lange kill on an assist from
Ashlyn Steding was the undoing for the Golden Eagles, as WSU would go on to claim the set, 25-15.
