BISMARCK, N.D. - Following an impressive 2023 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) women's cross country championships, Winona State's
Lindsay Cunningham and
John Hibshman have collected more individual honors from the league.
Cunningham was honored as the 2023 NSIC Outstanding Senior in women's cross country, an accolade added to a long list of awards for the Winona State standout. Following her NSIC-record third straight individual championship on Saturday, Oct. 21, Cunningham continues unbeaten in every regular season race she has entered for WSU.
Cunningham has earned a 4.0 GPA at Winona State, majoring in exercise science and minoring in psychology. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year is presented to an NSIC women's cross country student-athlete who has participated at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and University.

John Hibshman was named the 2023 NSIC women's cross country Coach-of-the-Year, following the Winona State sweep of individual and team championships in Bismarck, N.D.
Hibshman has been the architect behind the rise of the Winona State women's cross country program, culminating with the NSIC team championship earned by Winona State this season. Hibshman was hired in 2020 and guided WSU to a breakthrough performance at the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country championships, where the Warriors finished 11
th overall. The WSU 2023 NSIC championship was just the second-ever for Winona State women's cross country, with the Warriors winning previously in 2004.
Cunningham, Hibshman, and the Winona State women's team will look to continue their success at the 2023 NCAA Division II Regional, hosted by Missouri Southern State University. WSU will run on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Joplin, Missouri, with an eye on qualifying as a team for the 2023 NCAA Division II women's cross country championships.
