BISMARCK, N.D. - The Winona State University soccer team conceded a goal in each half in their Sunday, Oct. 22 matchup at the University of Mary, falling 2-0 to the host Marauders.
The setback saw Winona State wrap up the road portion of their 2023 season as WSU competed at Minot State earlier in the weekend, notching a 0-0 draw.

How it Happened
UMary's Olivia Gardner collected the first two shots of the contest for either team, and her second effort beat Winona State goalkeeper
Alyson Jumper to give the Marauders an early 1-0 lead.
Reanne Weil and
Abigail Williams by registered shots on goal around the 10 minute mark, but UMary's goalkeeper Molly Fischer was equal to the task both times.
Winona State would earn two corner kicks inside of the opening 20 minutes of play but were unable to convert on either set piece opportunity.
University of Mary's Eli Olsen was issued a yellow card in the 27th minute, the first of two cautions that would be issued in the match.
Alyson Jumper made another key save as the half wound down, denying UMary's Eli Olson near the 40 minute mark.

The Marauders earned the first corner kick of the final 45, and then found paydirt again when Gardner scored her second goal of the contest in the 51st minutes.
In the 70th minute, the University of Mary collected their second yellow card, issued to the Marauder's Mo Malone.
UMary held the Winona State attack in check for much of the second half. WSU's
Madisson Watts and
Grace Seim both collected shots in the final two minutes of the contest but were unable to find the back of the net with either effort.
Winona State would finish with eights shots in the game, two on goal, while UMary had 11 shots and put five on frame. WSU's Jumper would finish the contest with three saves.
