WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University soccer team and their fans saw a weather delay disrupt their 5 p.m. scheduled kickoff against the University of Minnesota Duluth on Thursday, Oct. 26. Once the contest kicked off, however, those in attendance were treated to an exciting game with a handful of goals from both the Bulldogs and the Warriors.
Winona State scored early on to take a 1-0 lead before seeing the Bulldogs go up 2-1 inside the first half. After WSU drew level and eventually regained a one-goal lead at 3-2 it was UMD that scored last to force a 3-3 draw.

How it Happened
Just past the ten-minute mark, Winona State's
Madelynn Drasher knocked home a cross by
Johanna Shubert to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead.
In the 30th minute, Minnesota Duluth knotted the game at 1-1 on a goal from Sarah Stange. Stange's strike from 25 yards out was assisted by Jessica Eischens and Jacqueline Jares.
Just moments later, the Bulldogs doubled their lead on a header by Myra Moorjani, following a throw-in from Jares, looping a header over WSU goalkeeper
Anna Lundeen.
Although UMD held an edge in shots in the first half, 5-2, the Warriors won the corner kick count, 4-2.
At the Half: Minnesota Duluth 2, Winona State 1
WSU wasted little time getting back on level terms following halftime, as
Johanna Shubert pounced on a rebound from a missed UMD clearance and beat Bulldog goalkeeper Jennifer Norris from 14 yards out to tie the game.
Winona State regained the lead in the match when
Grace Seim scored her second goal of the 2023 campaign, slotting home a right-footed shot from 22 yards out into the far post past UMD's Norris.
Minnesota Duluth responded to Seim's strike with a goal in the 77th minute to tie the game at 3-3. Miriam Marsan hit a long-range effort from the UMD right flank, scoring to level the contest. Minnesota Duluth's Rachel Boelke and Jennifer Norris had the assists on Marson's goal.
Neither team could find a fourth goal in their offense the rest of the way, leaving the two teams tied at 3-3 in an NSIC stalemate. The draw set Winona State's record and 2-7-6 overall, 1-6-5 in the NSIC. UMD's ledger moved to 6-5-6 overall, 5-3-5 in league play.
