How It Happened

Alyson Jumper made a statement early on with a breakaway save in the first minute of the game, leaving her line to snuff out a chance by Avery Korsching who beat the WSU backline on a long ball.

Anna Wyngarden tested Jumper moments later with a shot from distance and then WSU saw Korsching put a ball off the crossbar when the Maverick forward hit a half-volley on the turn as the Mavericks pressed the game in the early stages.

Minnesota State also earned a pair of corner kicks inside the middle of the first 45, but both set pieces were handled well by the Warriors, with center backs Callie Menzel and Quinn Williams helping to clear any service to MSU players in the penalty area.

Winona State used a host of substitutes in the late stages of the first half and the fresh legs helped WSU maintain the clean sheet, limiting the Mavericks to a handful of shots from long range.

A late foul by the Warriors in the 40th minute yielded the last scoring chance of the half, with MSU's Maria Zanotti hitting a drive on goal, but Alyson Jumper dove to her left to make the stop, sending the two teams into the locker room tied 0-0.

At The Half, Winona State 0, Minnesota State 0

The final 45 yielded some tactical changes by Winona State head coach Jill Leibforth, with WSU taking on a more attacking posture as the Warriors gained foothold in the match.

Winona State earned the first corner of the half for either team in the 46th minute, indicating WSU's interest in finding ways forward to test Minnesota State goalkeeper Mackenzie Rath.

One of the best chances for either team fell to Winona State's Madisson Watts, who save her breakaway attempt saved by Rath, who left her line and made a fine save to her right.

After a back-and-forth middle 15 minutes in the second stanza, Alyson Jumper was called upon to make a pair of key deflection saves against the Mavericks. Jumper dealt with a drive from MSU's Anna Van Wyngarden, steering the Maverick shot away from the Warrior goal and then responded 10 minutes later with a similar stop on Maddix Archer, parrying a ball over the crossbar with her right hand.

Tempers flared following the flurry on the Warrior goal and moments later, Minnesota State's Mila Rustin was issued a yellow card by the center official. WSU's Callie Menzel would be booked six minutes later.

The final 10 minutes saw several subs for both squads, but no goals, as both defensive lines dug in to maintain the draw. Catheryn Hudak subbed on in a forward role in the late stages of the game and a dynamic run from Hudak set up Johanna Shubert for one final Warrior shot but WSU was unable to dent the scoreboard as time expired.

With the 0-0 draw, Jumper earned her fourth shutout of the season, and WSU snapped a six game losing streak to the Mavericks.
