WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's tennis team won the front-end of a home weekend doubleheader in dominating fashion, defeating Bemidji State 7-0.
The Warriors took care of business in doubles, winning all three matches, and dropped just nine games across all six singles matches to earn their second-consecutive sweep to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
Freshman tandem of
Miranda Daulong and
Clara Thoemke opened doubles play with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Seconds later,
Rachel Kelly and
Ally Burger clinched the doubles point by winning the second position 6-1.
Beth Murman and
Sara Anderson completed the sweep at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Anderson was the first to shake hands after defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 position. Thoemke soon followed at No. 4 singles and Kelly clinched the victory for WSU with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Murman, Burger, and
Maddie Moe all secured straight-set victories to finish the sweep.
Winona State (2-0, 2-0 NSIC) will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 18, as they host Minnesota Crookston at the Winona Tennis Center at 5pm.
