NSIC Weekend : Warrior Tennis

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University tennis team will welcome a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opponents over the weekend of Friday, March 17, and Sunday, March 19.  WSU will host Minnesota State at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Southwest Minnesota State University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.  Both matches will be played in the Winona Tennis Center, located on the campus of Cotter Schools in Winona. 

Winona State is 6-3 on the season and is coming off a 3-2 record earned on the annual Warrior Spring Break trip last week. While in Florida, WSU beat John Carroll University 9-0 (Div. III scoring), Seton Hill University 6-1, and the California University of Pennsylvania, 4-3. The nationally-ranked University of Tampa dealt WSU a 6-1 loss and the Warriors were shut out by Michigan Tech, 7-0 on the last day of the trip.

Last spring, Winona State defeated Minnesota State 6-1 and beat Southwest Minnesota State 7-0 on Feb. 19. Both contests were on the road for WSU and were part of a seven-match unbeaten run for the Warriors in the middle of the 2022 season. 

The NSIC contests versus the Mavericks and the Mustangs represent the start of a series of NSIC matches for the Warriors. WSU will play eight league matches over the next five weeks. The NSIC Championships are set for April 21-23 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
