Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. - The Winona State University tennis team cruised to 9-0 win over John Carroll University on the opening day of the WSU 2023 spring trip.
The Warriors earned the shutout victory on Sunday, March 5, claiming both a 3-0 doubles win and all six points in singles competition en route to their fourth team victory of the spring season.
After wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 doubles against JCU,
Rachel Kelly opened up the singles competition by winning the No. 2 singles flight with a 6-2, 6-3 performance.
Clara Thoemke sealed the Warrior win with a victory at No. 5 singles, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-3.
In search of the sweep,
Beth Murman went on to win at No. 1 singles by a 7-5, 6-1 scoreline and then
Maddie Moe took the No. 6 singles slot with a 6-0, 6-7 (4), 10-7 thriller to move WSU to 7-0 on the day.
Miranda Daulong won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4 singles and Winona State's
Sara Anderson outlasted her No. 3 singles opponent 6-1, 6-7 (4), 11-9 to complete the Warrior win.
Winona State (4-1 overall, 3-0 NSIC) will return to the court on Monday, March 6, taking on Seton Hill University at 10 a.m. in Coco Beach, Florida.
