Winona State falls to league-leading Augustana, will wrap up regular season on the road

Box Score WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University tennis team fell to league-leading Augustana University 7-0 on Saturday, April 1, at the Winona Tennis Center. 

Augustana claimed the doubles point, winning both the No. 1 and No. 2 slots by 6-3 scorelines. The Vikings won the No. 3 doubles match, 6-0. 

In singles play, Winona State's Rachell Kelly fell at the No. 2 slot,  5-7, 4-6 in the closest match of the evening. At No. 1 singles, Beth Murman lost 3-6, 4-6, while Sara Anderson was defeated 0-6, 2-6 at No. 3. WSU's Miranda Daulong dropped the No. 4 singles point 0-6, 4-6, Ally Burger lost 2-6, 1-6 at No. 5 and Maddie Moe fell 0-6, 0-6 at No. 6 singles. 

For Augustana, the Vikings move to 13-2 overall on the year and 9-0 in NSIC play. Winona State slides to 8-6 overall and 5-3 in league action. 

WSU heads into the last week of the regular season with a pair of important road matches on the horizon. Winona State will travel to the University of Mary and Minnesota State Moorhead over the weekend of Saturday, April 15, and Sunday, April 16, in the final two regular-season matches of the 2023 Warrior campaign. 

The 2023 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament is scheduled for April 21-23 and will be held at the Huether Family Match Pointe Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
