WARRIORS VOLLEYBALL DEFEAT MINNESOTA CROOKSTON 3-1

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles, 3-1. 

The Warriors, who honored their seniors after the match, came out strong after a strong win last night. WSU took the win in four sets going 25-16, 25-17, 12-25, 25-14. 

Set One: 
Winona State went into set one falling behind 5-4, but were able to find the right momentum off of errors by UMC and a well executed kill by Kenna Kornely. There was a bit of back and forth between with the Golden Eagles falling behind 11-9 but were able to pick up their momentum again by UMC errors and some powerful kills by Jayda Berg, Sidney Paulson, Gianna Vollrath and Kornely. The Warriors took set one off of a service error by Minnesota Crookston's Madison Carsten, 25-16. 

Set Two: 
The Warriors continued their hot streak into set two going up 14-6 before the Golden Eagles started to fight back off of a few WSU errors and kills by Emma Malek. Winona State held UMC to 17 points and took set two 25-17 from an attacking error on Minnesota Crookston. 

Set Three: 
WSU had to work hard right away in the third set falling behind 2-0 and getting on the board off of a service error to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Warriors were not able to fully find their grove in the third set falling 25-12 with six errors in the third. 

Set Four:
The Warriors were determined to take set four to end the match, and they did just that. Leah Mach collected a kill to go up 7-5, which fired up the Warriors to continue to power through. After a bit of back and forth, the Warriors went from 20-14 to 25-14 to win from a sneaky kill by setter, Jaci Winchell

Stats Leaders: 
Gianna Vollrath led the Warriors with a .429 hitting percentage collecting 11 kills. 
Sidney Paulson collected 12 kills to lead Winona State. 
Kylie Welch grabbed 17 digs allowing Jaci Winchell to get 22 assists. 
Ashlyn Steding led the team with four service aces for WSU. 

The Winona State University Warriors will hit the road for their final regular season weekend facing St. Cloud State on Friday, November 15 at 6:00pm and University of Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, November 16 at 4:00pm.
