OWATONNA, Minn. - The Winona State University tennis team will challenge a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) opponents over the weekend of Saturday, Feb. 17 and Sunday, Feb. 18 playing on the road in Owatonna, Minn. WSU will take on the University of Mary at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Minnesota State - Moorhead on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Both matches will be played in the Owatonna Indoor Tennis Center.
Winona State is 2-0 on the season, having defeated the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point 7-0 on Feb. 4, and St. Cloud State i4-3 n a non-conference tilt on Friday, Feb. 9.
On April 15 of last year, Winona State fell to the University of Mary in a close match by a 4-3 scoreline but rebounded to defeat MSU Moorhead 6-1 on April 16. UMary also knocked Winona State out of the 2023 NSIC Championships and the Warriors will take the court this weekend looking to even the score.
The NSIC contests versus the Marauders and Dragons serve as the NSIC opener for the Warriors. Following the action this weekend, Winona State will next play on their annual spring break trip, scheduled for March 3 through March 8 in Kissimmee, Florida. There, WSU will take on five schools in five days as Winona State tunes up for the heart of the NSIC tennis season.
