WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's tennis team earned an opening-weekend win last Sunday against the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and will look to replicate that form as the Warriors open up NSIC play this evening, hosting St. Cloud State at the Winona Tennis Center. The Warriors and Huskies will start at 6 p.m.
Last weekend against the UW-SP, Winona State swept all levels of play to claim the 7-0 victory. Against St. Cloud State, WSU has won 12 of the 19 most recent matches but tonight the Warriors will be looking to avenge a close 4-3 setback last season against SCSU on March 24. Winona State is 7-1 in the last eight matchups against St. Cloud State.
Tonight's tilt is the season opener for St. Cloud State; last year, the Huskies were 11-7 overall and 6-5 in NSIC play. Following Friday's NSIC contest, Winona State will next play on February 17 - 18, when they take on the University of Mary and Minnesota State University. Both matches will be held in Owatonna, Minn.
