Tveite named D2 Baseball Insider National Player of the Week

WINONA, Minn. - Winona State University baseball player Peter Tveite has been named the D2 Baseball Insider National Pitcher of the Week. The Lakeville, Minn. native earned the award for the first time is his career.

Tveite recorded a perfect game last week to kick off NSIC play against Bemidji State at home. Tveite became only the second player in Winona State history to pitch a perfect game, joining 2023 Winona State Hall of Fame inductee Lee Boettcher.

In 2024, Tveite has thrown 20 and 1/3 innings, spanning six different contests. He has allowed just 13 hits, notched 29 strikeouts and is holding opposing teams to a .186 batting average.

The Winona State - University of Mary series originally set to take place in Bismarck, North Dakota has been site reversed to Winona. WSU and UMary will play two doubleheaders, beginning on Friday, March 29 and concluding on Saturday, March 30.  First pitch in the cozy confines of Loughrey Field on Friday is scheduled for 1 p.m. while the two teams will square off on Saturday at noon.
