MANKATO, Minn. - The Winona State University women's volleyball team traveled to Mankato, Minn. to face off against a Minnesota State team who has been receiving votes in the latest NCAA polls.

When the dust settled, the Mavericks escaped unscathed, beating the Warriors 3-0 on Saturday, September 28 on their home court.

Stat Leaders
Set one
The Warriors would begin set one earning two points off service errors early in the match by Sidney Paulson and Anna Hennessy. Adding into Winona State's scoring would be Jayda Berg and Gianna Vollrath, both earning kills. Before WSU could gain any momentum, the Mavericks would score five straight points to take a 13-20 lead. Kills by graduate students Lydia Lange and SIdney Paulson would respond, but Minnesota State would take set one 18-25.

Set two
Early in set number two the Warriors saw themselves down 1-8, before a Jaci Winchell kill would get WSU out of a bind. The Mavericks would see their biggest lead of the set at 6-16 before a 8-0 run would see WSU right back in the match 14-16. Battling back and forth for a number of points the Warriors would eventually tie set two up at 20-20 highlighted by a Sidney Paulson kill. Minnesota State would eventually take the set 23-25.

Set three
In a similar scenario the Warriors would see themselves down 0-7 early in set number three, before a Sidney Paulson kill would put WSU on the board. Winona State would see some points come in from kills by Gianna Vollrath and Lydia Lange, but to no avail, the Mavericks were too much, taking set three and the match 18-25.
