FAYETTE, Iowa - Winona State soccer battled Upper Iowa to a 2-2 tie in their season opener on the road in head coach
Delaney Marier's debut with the Warriors.
The Warriors fought all game against the Peacocks with WSU getting on the board first with a goal on a shot to the bottom left corner by
Madelynn Drasher, who was assisted by
Reese Trebilcock and
Jacey Sturek on a corner kick 25:36 into the match. UIU answered back in the 59 minute mark with a goal by Mikayln Hidde.
Winona State and Upper Iowa battled from the 59 minute mark until the 79 minute mark where the Warriors scored again by a pass from
Jacey Sturek to
Adrianna Bixby who passed it up to
Abigail Williams, whose shot went to the upper left corner for Winona State's second goal of the game. The tying goal of the game came in the 86 minute of the game by UIU's Jordan Roybal. The Warriors were unable to take the upper hand and finished their 90 minute match with a 2-2 tie against the Upper Iowa Peacocks.
The Winona State University Warriors will be on their home pitch against the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers on Friday September 13 with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
