WINONA, Minn. – The Warriors dropped their first match up of this weekend's road trip against the University of Sioux Falls.
How It Happened:
Winona State played a close first set, out hitting the cougars .239 to .245, but would ultimately lose in extra points 27-29. In the second set, the Warriors struggled after being out hit by .357 and losing by as many as 15 points at one point. WSU would end up losing the set 11-25.
A bounce back set in the third would be a small spark for Winona State, led by
Kenna Kornely and
Gianna Vollrath's offense the Warriors would rattle off a match high of eight straight points and take a 25-16 set win. In the end, the Warriors would fall in the fourth set 17-25 after hitting a match low .070.
Statistical Comparison:
- Gianna Vollrath led the Warriors with 15 kills and picked up four blocks.
- Ashlyn Steding dished out 19 assists.
- Anna Hennessy led the team with 14 digs.
