WSU VOLLEYBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO #17 SMSU

MARSHALL, Minn. – Warrior volleyball fell 3-0 at #17 Southwest Minnesota State by scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-13.
 
Winona State was unable to slow down the Mustang offense as SMSU hit .484 on the match and committed just three attack errors to sweep the Warriors.
 
How it Happened:
SMSU jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set before WSU settled in and went on their on 6-1 run to tie things up at 7-7. After trading points, The Mustangs went on a run in the middle of the set to take control and win the opening set 25-17.
 
In the second frame, both offenses were on display. Winona State hit .387 with 16 kills and four errors, but the Mustangs amassed a .581 hitting percentage and tallied 19 hills on 31 attempts with just one error. Another mid-set run by SMSU propelled them to the 25-18 set win.
 
It was all Mustangs in the third set as they allowed just nine Warrior kills on 35 attempts while tallying 15 kills on 32 attempts of their own. SMSU limited any opportunity for the Warriors to come back in the match and ran away with a 25-13 set win to collect the sweep.
