SOPHIA TAARUD AND WINONA STATE EARN NSIC WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

WAYNE, Neb. – Winona State women's cross country earned the 2025 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship and Sophia Taarud finished first to be the 2025 NSIC Women's Cross Country Individual Champion.

The Warriors earned their second team championship in three years after running away from the field, having the top five Warrior finishers earn First Team All-NSIC as WSU tallied 28 points. Minnesota State finished second with 57 team points.

Taarud earned the individual championship with a time of 21:19.60, nearly 33 seconds ahead of second place. Taarud picked up her fourth All-NSIC honor and was named to the All-NSIC First Team for the third straight year.

Kylie Anderson finished fourth overall with a time of 22:01.30, Ella Voit followed in sixth with a time of 22:11.10, Kelsey Young finished eighth in 22:13.70 and Stella Rusch were right behind in ninth at 22:16.30 to round out the Warrior's top five who all earned First Team All-Conference accolades.
 
The Warriors will look to carry momentum into the NCAA Division II Regional on Saturday, November 8th in Joplin, Mo.
