Winona, Minn. – Winona State volleyball bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Augustana to finish the home weekend 1-1 and move to 5-2 in NSIC play.
How it Happened:
Winona State capitalized on ten total aces after only slightly edging out the Vikings in the first set in hitting with a percentage of .280 compared to Augustana's .250. The Warriors ultimately won the set 25-19.
In the second set, WSU and Augie battled back and forth, sending the match to extra points. After a Kill to put the Vikings up 27-26, a clutch block by the Warriors defense and two attacking errors by the Vikings, allowed for three straight Winona State points and a 29-27 set win. There was no looking back, as the Warriors would narrowly take the third set 25-23.
Statistical Comparison:
- Gianna Vollrath led the Warriors with 11 kills and picked up six blocks.
- Ashlyn Steding dished out 20 assists, three blocks, and six aces.
