WINONA STATE LOSES 3-0 ON THE ROAD IN DULUTH

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State volleyball team fell short to the UMD Bulldogs, losing 3-0 in their second to last regular season match.

Winona State seemed to control the pace of the Bulldog offense as UMD hit .191 from the field compared to the Warriors .135. Ultimately, WSU was outplayed in every statistic expect blocks and digs which would lead to the UMD victory.

How it Happened:
The Warriors played a competitive first set, with the match being tied at multiple points of the match. Halfway through the set, WSU tied the match with a kill from Kenna Kornely, who had five in the set. Towards the end, the Bulldogs tied the match 20-20 after effective offense and a few errors by the Warriors. UMD would win the tight first set 25-23.

Similarly, in the second set the Warriors struggled to gain the lead after the beginning of the set and would ultimately fall in another close set, 23-25. In the third set, WSU hit a match low, -.095 hitting percentage after committing 12 errors and Minnesota Duluth's ability to capitalize off their mistakes was prevalent. UMD would win the third set 25-16, 3-0 sweeping the Warriors.

  • WSU hit .135 on the match with 37 kills on 126 attempts with 20 errors.
  • UMD hit .191 on the match with 46 kills on 141 attempts with 19 errors.
  • Minnesota Duluth collected four service aces compared to Winona States two.
