MANKATO, Minn. - The Winona State University Warriors opened their 2025-26 indoor track and field season at the Chuck Peterson Open hosted by Minnesota State, Mankato.
Winona State went into their first meet competing with Minnesota State, Mankato, Concordia-St. Paul, Gustavus Adolphus, Minnesota Morris, St. Olaf, Bethany Lutheran, and Southwest Minnesota State in numerous events at the Chuck Peterson Open.
The Warriors started their indoor season strong starting with the 60m, where
Sasha Steinbach anchored the Warrior lineup with a 7.69 PR and a second-place finish. Madison Hubbard from Minnesota State, Mankato finished with the best time in the 60m with a time of 7.61.
Stella Richter tabbed a fifth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.18, shortly followed by
Lexi Urbick at 9.35.
The 200m race was held down by
Sasha Steinbach finishing second again with a time of 25.48.
Caitlyn Casella,
Alyssa Larson, and
Adalyn Barkley followed behind respectively finishing 8, 10, and 12. Grace Obour won the 200m with a time of 25.31 for Minnesota State.
Alyssa Larson and
Adalyn Barkley finished fourth and fifth in the 400m, with times of 59.03 and 59.36. Amalinally Pemberton won the 400m for Minnesota State.
Sophia Taarud won the 5000m with a time of 16:47.30. The Warriors finished second in the 4x400m, a team of
Amber Gerrits,
Stella Richter,
Lydia Toshner, and
Lexi Urbick tabbed a time of 4:11.59, right behind the Minnesota State team with a time of 3:59.45.
Delaney Untz and
Chloe Fratzke finished fourth and fifth in the high jump jumping 1.52 m each.
Cecelia Dittrich competed and finished eleventh in the long jump with 5.05m.
Ella Schueler tabbed a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.02m.
Megan Kreul and
Ava Krista finished fifth and sixth with distances of 11.08m and 10.90m.
The Winona State University Warriors will be back in action on Friday, January 16th, where the Warriors will compete in the Bearson/Gathje Classic hosted by Minnesota State, Mankato in Mankato, Minn.
