WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team defeated Minot State University in the final home contest of the regular season 82-70.
Vivica Bretton led the Warriors in scoring with 22 points on 7-14 (50%) shooting from the field.
How it Happened:
Hailey Markworth scored the first points of the contest on a pair of free throws. The scoring in the first remained close, with the Beavers scoring the final points of the quarter on a three-pointer from Katie Aberle assisted by Jaime Skeggs, bringing the score to Minot State 23, Winona State 22.
Starting the second quarter, WSU scored first with a three-pointer from
Olivia Gamoke, assisted by
Sadie Jarmolowicz. Winona State's 6-16 (37.5%) from the field and 4-8 (50%) shooting from beyond the arc in the quarter gave them the lead going into the half. The score at the end of the second quarter was Warriors 38, Beavers 33.
Winona State came out of the half hot, scoring the first seven points of the quarter. The Warriors would continue to increase their lead, scoring 23 points in the third. Minot State's Gustavsson closed out the scoring in the quarter with a three-pointer assisted by Emma Mogen, bringing the score to WSU 61, MISU 52.
The Beavers scored the first points of the final quarter with a pair of free throws from Skeggs. Minot State made a push late in the quarter to decrease the scoring deficit with a layup from Mogen. A layup from WSU's
Stephanie Dasbach, assisted by
Lindsey Hahn, closed out the scoring in regulation, bringing the final score to Winona State 82, Minot State 70.
Individual Leaders:
- Bretton led the Warriors in scoring with 22 points, assists with five, and rebounds with eight.
- Jarmolowicz led Winona State in steals with two.
- Hahn led WSU in blocks with two.
- Mogen led the Beavers in points with 29.

- WSU went 28-59 (47.5%) from the field, while MISU went 27-66 (40.9%).
- The Beavers went 6-24 (25%) from beyond the arc, while the Warriors went 12-23 (52.2%).
